New Programme - Family Violence Issues

Media Release: Stopping Violence Dunedin
Tuesday 24th April 2012

New Programme To Work Alongside People Who Have Family Violence Issues

Stopping Violence Dunedin is delighted that it is now able to provide a new holistic support service for men and women with violence issues. Entitled “Kaiwhakaruruhau”, the new service, delivered by Cinnamon Boreham, a highly experienced practitioner in Family Violence issues in Dunedin, will work alongside the families of men and women of all ethnicities who have family violence issues. The service will assist those people to develop strategies and projects that create peaceful and non-violent family/whānau for themselves. Cinnamon says that “this is a really exciting opportunity for us to really make a difference working with whanau in need, in a much more comprehensive way”.

Funded through Family and Community Services, the service is free to anyone who self-refers to Stopping Violence Dunedin, or is referred by another agency with the person’s agreement.

Stopping Violence Dunedin also provides group and individual family violence programmes for men who either self-refer or are mandated through the Courts or Family Courts.
