$50,000 In Donations Helps Northland ATC Get Building
Two donations totalling more than $50,000
have enabled a Northland youth organization to set up their
very own headquarters recently.
The Dargaville Air Training Corp's very own building was officially opened last week and 57 Squadron ATC Unit Commander FLTLT Barbara Gillatt says it wouldn't have been possible without the generous help of the McKay Family, Freemasons Roskill Foundation, ASB Community Trust and the Dargaville Community.
The McKay family, owners of McKay Electrical donated a two adjoining flats for the building and rewired them once they were moved on-site. The ASB Community Trust donated $28,500 and The Freemasons Roskill Foundation donated $25,000.
David Mace, Chairman of Freemasons Roskill Foundation, said that The Freemasons were only too happy to help out such a worthy cause.
“It's a real privilege to have participated in this project so far with this wonderful organisation,” said Mr Mace.
FLTLT Gillatt said the rooms couldn't have been refurbished to this stage so fast without help from the community.
“What has been achieved in the last 12 months is amazing.
However, FLTLT Gillatt says there is still a lot to do with 2 rooms still to be refurbished to complete stage and an ablution block a kitchen and the associated infrastructure also needing to be added.
“We are sure that, with the help of generous social groups like the The Freemasons Roskill Foundation we will be able to get the building fully up and operational in no time,” said FLTLT Gillatt.
