HBRC pleased with interest in Draft Long Term Plan
Hawke’s Bay Regional Council Chairman Fenton Wilson says it is pleasing to see the wide public interest in the organisation’s draft Long Term Plan.
Submissions have just closed on the plan, which sets out the organisation’s work priorities for the next decade and how the work will be funded.
More than 550 submissions have been received on a wide range of topics including support for webcasting of council meetings and Enviroschools, and a large number raising concerns about potential hydraulic fracturing for proposed oil exploration in the region.
Some submitters have also given qualified support for the Ruataniwha water storage project and forestry on eroding hill country, while others support HBRC contributing financially to a hockey turf at the Regional Sports Park and the Te Mata Peak Visitor Centre.
Fenton Wilson says Councillors and staff have put a lot of time and effort into preparing the draft plan, and it is pleasing to see so many members of the public have taken the time to comment on it.
Hearings for those who have indicated they wish to speak about their submission will be held from 11-13 June.
