NZTA remembers Tauranga City Council CEO Ken Paterson

NZTA's Bay of Plenty and Waikato Regional Director Harry Wilson says the agency is saddened by the passing of Tauranga City Council CEO Ken Paterson on Sunday night.

Mr Wilson who knew Mr Paterson well from his previous role as CEO of Northland Regional Council, says the Tauranga City Council CEO had made a significant impact since his arrival 11 months ago, in terms of understanding and leading the council's discussion and work around transport planning.

"Ken understood the importance of sound transport planning for future growth and took leadership in ensuring that the NZTA and Tauranga City Council continued to work together to make sound roading investment choices for Tauranga City," says Mr Wilson.

Mr Wilson says Ken was a very personable and enthusiastic man who showed a great passion for his work and was always very highly supportive of those who worked with him.

"He will be sadly missed and we send out thoughts and deepest sympathies to his wife Melanie and his family, and to his friends and colleagues at Tauranga City Council" says Mr Wilson.
