Workshop on mindfulness meditation in Hawke’s Bay
Date: Saturday, 14th July 2012

Programme:
1.30-2.30 pm: Public sermon on Mindfulness meditation
2.30-3.00 pm: Discussion over tea
3.00-4.00 pm Meditation practice (two sessions with 5 minutes stretching in between)
4.15-4.30 pm: Discussion
BYO cushion or blanket to sit on for meditation

Meditation is intended to purify the mind of what can be called as psychic irritants, greed, hatred and jealousy etc.

The purpose of meditation is to changes your character by making you deeply aware of your own thoughts, words and deeds. It brings the mind to a state of tranquillity and awareness, a state of concentration and insight.

This is an opportunity for you to get an introduction to this powerful mind training tool with an experienced meditation teacher!
Meditation teacher: Venerable Walimada Jinalankara Thero (Bhante Ji)

Bhante has been ordained as a Theravada Buddhist monk in the forest monastic order of Sri Lanka for 24 years. He started his monastic life at the age of nineteen as a novice monk.

After this foundation Bhante Ji moved to quieter branch monasteries in rural Sri Lanka to pursue his meditation for a long time.

In his life as a monk Bhante has visited many countries including Myanmar, India, Thailand, Nepal, Australia, USA and England. Bhante Jinalankara came to New Zealand as a visiting monk to Bodhinyanarama monastery at Stalks Valley, Wellington about 10 years ago.

Currently Bhate Ji is continuing his Dhamma services as the Abbot of Dhamma Gavesi Meditation Centre in Tawa, Wellington.

Workshop is free of charge.
Organisers welcome any voluntary donations to the building fund of Dhamma Gavesi Meditation Centre, Tawa Wellington.
