Bus patronage continues to rise

The number of people choosing to use the goBay bus services in Hawke’s Bay continues to rise. In August passenger trips reached a record high of 74,493. There have been more than half a million passenger trips from January to September this year, up 20% on the same period last year.

Extra buses on Route 20

Extra daily bus services are being put on the Hastings-Flaxmere goBay bus route (Route 20) due to growing demand. At peak times buses on Route 20 were carrying very heavy loads of both passengers and prams/strollers. Often there was standing room only and on occasions people were left behind until the next service came through. From today (Monday 29 October) an extra seven services (Monday to Friday) will be added to the current schedule.

Additional bus stops on Route 17

Hastings District Council has approved additional bus stops for the extension to Route 17, which will now travel past the Summerset Village on Ada Street. The move comes as a result of submissions to HBRC’s Long Term Plan earlier this year. The extension to this service is due to start Monday 5 November.

Bus timetables go mobile

goBay has gone mobile with bus timetable information now easily accessible for people with smart phones via the HBRC website and/or a QR code.
