Tsunami not a sea or land risk for Northland

The Ministry of Civil Defence and Emergency Management has advised of a potential marine and beach threat for parts of New Zealand’s coast from Taranaki to Milford Sound, caused by a magnitude 8 earthquake this afternoon in the Santa Cruz Islands, near the Solomon Islands.

There is no current tsunami risk from this earthquake at sea or on land for Northland.
