Next Step In Petone To Grenada Link Welcomed

The Wellington Employers’ Chamber of Commerce welcomes the next step in the proposal to build a link road between Petone and Grenada, Chief Executive Raewyn Bleakley said today.

“This road has been regarded by many as a missing link in the region’s transport network, and progressing to the next step of public consultation is a welcome development.

“We appreciate that this is very early in the process, with a lot of work still to be done, but if it progresses then it is likely to make a huge difference to the region’s transport efficiencies.

“It will result in considerable distance and time savings for people travelling to and from work and in the movement of goods around the region, particularly to and from the key Seaview industrial area.

“An efficient transport system is vital to a vibrant local economy, and this will contribute greatly to that by taking a lot of traffic away from the Ngauranga interchange bottleneck.

“When added to the improvements about to be made along the Road of National Significance from the airport to Levin, the region will have an even more robust transport network.”
