Truck crash on SH5

The Taupo Based Greenlea Rescue helicopter was dispatched to the Waipunga gorge on SH5 SE of Taupo.

A truck had left the road and the driver was trapped. The road was closed for about four hours as emergency services extracted the man from the overturned truck.

He was flown to Waikato hospital with multiple injuries and a severely crushed leg
