Spicer Forest reopens
Spicer Forest is again open for walking and cycling access. The main entrances are either via Rangituhi (Porirua), the end of Ohariu Valley Road, or via Chastudon Place (Tawa). People may use the Te Araroa Trail and the road through the park, which enters and exits from Ohariu Valley Road and Chastudon Place in Tawa. Tracks are marked with temporary signs and way-finding. The recreational area has been closed for the last two years as Meridian were using it as access for the development of Mill Creek Wind Farm.
Wellington City Council and Porirua City Council are working together to turn the forest into a unique recreational area – this will include track access from Tawa, connections to Porirua and to the wider Outer Green Belt area. There will be an opportunity for public input into this longer term planning.
