Ports of Auckland stops to pay respects

Over 1,000 lights to be turned off across the Waitematā Seaport this ANZAC Day

Ports of Auckland will again turn off its lights and halt operations during the ANZAC Day dawn service between 6:00 and 6:40 on Saturday 25 April.

This year will mark the fifteenth year the Port has turned off the Waitematā Seaport lights for the duration of the remembrance service.

“Turning off our lights and stopping work during the service has become a tradition at the Port. It is a small way for us to commemeorate those that served our country” says Ports of Auckland Chief Executive, Tony Gibson.

All primary lighting from Fergusson Container Terminal to Captain Cook Wharf will be turned off.
