FIM Oceania President to Attend Conference in Queenstown

FIM Oceania President to Attend Conference
in Queenstown this Weekend

Mr. B. J. (Jim) Tuckerman, the first ever New Zealander to be elected to the Board of the FIM
(Federation Internationale De Motocyclisme), the World governing body for motorcycle racing will be in Queenstown, this weekend to attend the annual Motorcycling New Zealand Inc. conference.

Mr. Tuckerman, who has spent the last three decades involved in all facets of Motorcycle sport in New Zealand, was elected to the position of President FIM Oceania (the FIM Continental Union representing Australia and New Zealand) last November and then attended the FIM General Assembly in Jerez, Spain in his first week in office.

Mr. Tuckerman, an event and marketing specialist, is currently looking at ways events such as Oceania Championships can enhance areas, they are held in. Leading to a wider economic benefit for the region and encouraging riders and teams from overseas to visit for longer periods, than their customary “Fly in- Fly out”.

There are also benefits in enhancing new country experiences for families of both riders and technical staff and making events a must go destination.
