Help for Mother Nature's helpers
31 March 2016
Wild for Taranaki. Financial assistance is available for
Taranaki people and organisations doing their bit to help
Mother Nature – but you need to be quick to apply.
The new Wild for Taranaki Community Biodiversity Fund has $40,000 for projects which protect or restore biodiversity in the region. Applications close at the end of April.
Private landowners, community groups or other organisations can be funded for a range of activities including predator and pest plant control, restoration planting, fencing, environmental education, or surveying and monitoring native plants or animals. Up to 50% of the cost of a project can be funded, to a maximum of $10,000.
Wild for Taranaki is an initiative of the Taranaki Biodiversity Trust. “We know a lot of great work is happening out there,” says the Trust Chairman, Mike Weren. “Wild for Taranaki is all about getting alongside our community and showing support.”
For a funding application form, contact Regional Biodiversity Co-ordinator Leigh Honnor (leigh.honnor@trc.govt.nz or 0800 736 222) or go to www.wildfortaranaki.nz.
