Te Puke Spinal Injury

Te Puke Spinal Injury

The Trustpower TECT Rescue Helicopter was dispatched to Te Puke at 7:45pm where a 38 year old male dived into a swimming pool and suffered a serious neck injury. NZ Fire Service cordoned off a nearby local park for the helicopter to land. St John paramedics stabilised the patient and drove the patient from the scene to the park. The seriousness of the injury required the patient to be flown to Middlemore spinal unit. The flight was conducted under night vision goggles.

Philips Search and Rescue Trust (PSRT) is a charitable organisation, operating rescue helicopters throughout the Central North Island. Philips Search and Rescue Trust relies on support from principal sponsors and community donations. Special thanks to Tauranga’s principal sponsor’s, Trustpower and TECT. This crucial financial support ensures our rescue helicopters can continue to bring life-saving equipment, rescue personnel and trauma-trained medics directly to the patient.
