Local Christchurch businessman John Stringer (who is also a local Community Board representative in Christchurch) is unhappy about repeated vitriol being posted online by sitting Christchurch City Councillors about the new President of the United States Donald Trump

Ex-Mayor of Chch Vicki Buck posted online Wednesday (25th) that she thought some Trump socks given her by Chch Mayor Lianne Dalziel would be better printed as condoms

Her FB site is frequently anti-Trump

John Stringer posted that he thought it better if City Councillors showed some respect for the office of President and was disturbed at the level of Trump vitriol being promulgated by some City Councillors of a particular political persuasion

Buck was this week appointed Chairman of the Innovation and Sustainability Development Committee which is a merger of Canterbury Tourism and The Cant development Corporation and is charged with "strategic directions"

"I'm not sure suggesting the US President should be pictured on condoms screwing the West is the kind of strategic direction-making I want from Chch City Councillors"Stringer said

Vicki is fun and laughable but as a Councillor I suggested she "Show some respect" he posted

"Given that we've just had a HUGE American investment in the brand new Adventure (Mountain Bike) Park on Worsleys Spur which will rapidly develop as a prime asset in our city (like the Gondola) this kind of silly partisan attack on Americans and their president is unhelpful" Stringer said especially from such a senior Councillor as Ms Buck

Stringer's wife is American and once worked for George W Bush's campaign team while he was Governor of Texas
