Helicopter Crash Near Raetihi

The Palmerston North Rescue Helicopter was dispatched a helicopter crash near Makakahi North West of Raetihi this morning around 09:30 am. The helicopter located the crash with the sole pilot. The on board St John paramedic was inserted to the scene using the helicopters rescue hoist to stabilise the patient. They were then both extracted using the rescue hoist and then airlifted to Whanganui hospital. The helicopter was called due to the remote location and nature of the injuries.
