Roading and weather update 6am

A heavy rain warning remains in place for the Coromandel. Further rain is expected over the north and east of the North Island with some heavy falls likely at times. Auckland and the Great Barrier are going to cop a bit of this rain too.

On the brighter side most of our roads are open - the only closures are the Whangamata Bypass (Port Rd to Harry Watt Dr) and the road between Whangamata and Opoutere.

You can get through between Waihi and Whangamata and up the Thames Coast but just drive with care due to slips.
