Weather and road update #20 6am
Good morning Coromandel

Well what a night we have had. Here's the situation this morning so far.

Road closures:
SH26 Kopu – Paeroa
SH26a Kopu – Hikuia
SH25 Whangamata – Tairua
SH25 between 309 Road –Wade Road
Hikuia Settlement Rd Pauanui
The 309 Road
East Coast Road (Kaiaua – Miranda) down to 1 lane

Due to Waitawheta river rising Sundaise concert goers camping at Dickies Flat, Waihi were evacuated.

Civil Defence are assisting Police with the evacuation of approximately 200 concertgoers.

Of 1000 concertgoers at Dickies Flat 800 concertgoers remain onsite in house buses and trucks plus 8 adults and 8 children sheltering in haybarn onsite.
Approximately 140 concertgoers self-evacuated

61 People have been evacuated from the Dickies Flat campground and taken to the Waihi Salvation Army Hall where they are being cared for by Hauraki Civil Defence.

Metservice saying rain will continue until around lunchtime.
