The Transport Accident Investigation Commission has just released two final reports. One concerns a Robinson R44 helicopter which crashed in the Kahurangi National Park in October 2014 (AO-2014-006); the other a fire on board the Amaltal Columbia in September 2012 (MO-2012-203).

Both reports can be found on the Commission’s website www.taic.org.nz

Attention will probably focus on the R44 report. It is a comprehensive report and technical in parts. The Commission found the helicopter broke up in flight as a result of mast bumping.
