Tornado in National Park Village update

Ruapehu Civil Defence has closed the Incident Control Point (ICP) in National Park Village.

The Welfare Centre will be closing down later this afternoon.

The Civil Defence response team expect to be undertaking final clean-up work and finishing in National Park around 4.00pm.

The remaining cordon and road closures will be lifted at 6.00pm.

One household of two people are still in temporary commercial accommodation.

Ruapehu District Council’s Building Team has completed inspections of all buildings with structural damage and have posted notices restricting access where required.
