Auckland’s Sculpture on the Gulf has secured the support of lead sponsor Perpetual Guardian. The company joins key partners ATEED and Fullers Group Limited in anchoring the event which will take place on Waiheke Island March 1 to 24 next year.

Announcing support for this key event in Auckland’s arts calendar, managing director of Perpetual Guardian, Andrew Barnes, said the event gives the city a special place on the national and international stage.
“By supporting conversation on what large outdoor sculpture means to overall art culture we look at our experience of art in a different more physical way,” he said.
“As art collectors I am always interested in what art means to the observer. As the founder of Perpetual Guardian my partner Charlotte Lockhart and I look forward to sharing this event with our clients and the wider community.”

Chairman of Sculpture on the Gulf, Caroline Forsyth, congratulated Perpetual Guardian on the company’s commitment to the event.
“By joining ATEED, Auckland Council’s tourism and event marketing Council Controlled Organisation, and Fullers, the all important transport link to and around the Island, we can confidently plan for this premium event,” she said. “We congratulate and thank Perpetual Guardian for their support.”
“The event is funded by the generosity of benefactors, patrons, donors and all important corporate sponsors”, she said. “Fundraising continues in earnest.”

Twenty five works from New Zealand’s eminent and emerging artists have been selected by the Board’s curatorial panel.

The Sculpture on the Gulf board is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Waiheke Community Art Gallery. The Gallery will feature a small sculpture exhibition as part of the event.
