During the Extraordinary Council Meeting of Thursday 4 April, a member of the public was trespassed from Westland District Council.

The Chief Executive became aware of a public Facebook post that raised serious concerns for the safety of Council staff. Given the recent events in Christchurch, this matter was taken very seriously as a credible threat and reported to the Police. As a result a trespass notice was issued.

Council supports freedom of speech, but serious threats against staff will not be tolerated.
