Fire and Emergency is responding to a fire at the Christchurch Wastewater Treatment Plant in Bromley.

The fire was initially reported at 3.07 pm.

Currently there are eight appliances at the scene.

Residents living down wind from the scene are encouraged to keep doors and windows closed.

People are also asked to please stay away from the area.
