On the morning of Saturday, February 26, the Greenlea Rescue Helicopter was tasked to a beacon activation on Mount Ruapehu, in the area of the Whangaehu Glacier, above the Tukino Ski Field.

The patient, a man in his 40’s, had fallen on ice and rocks, sustaining serious injuries. The patient was winched from his location and airlifted to Waikato Hospital for further treatment.
