State Highway 5, is closed due to dangerous conditions following a diesel spill.

The northbound carriageway is closed from Bayview, Te Pohue.

The southbound carriageway is closed at The Summit and may become a larger closure toward Taupo.

Road cleaning crews have been called to deal with the spillage.

Motorists are advised to avoid the area and delay travel if possible.
