Waitohu Valley Road is blocked following a serious crash this afternoon.

Emergency services were alerted to the two-vehicle crash at around 4.15pm.

Initial indications suggest there are serious injuries.

The Serious Crash Unit has been advised.

The road is blocked and motorists are advised to avoid the area.
