State Highway 8/Manuka Gorge Highway, between Johnston Road and Burma Road is closed following a serious crash.

At around 4:50pm emergency services received reports of the two-vehicle crash south of Waitahuna.

Initial indications suggest there are serious injuries.

Motorists should avoid the area and expect delays.
