The National Emergency Management Agency has received notification of an UPGRADED earthquake with the following parameters:

N.B. This earthquake had previously been closed in NWS message 2 based on the previous assessment at a lower magnitude. In light of the new magnitude, this earthquake is being re-assessed.

Co-ordinates:	52.2 NORTH 160.0 EAST
Depth:	74 KM / 46 MILES
Location:	OFF THE EAST COAST OF KAMCHATKA RUSSIA
Magnitude:	8.7 (UPGRADED FROM M8.0)

The National Emergency Management Agency and GNS Science are currently assessing whether the UPGRADED earthquake has created a tsunami that could affect New Zealand.
