Auckland road users should be aware that there are overnight closures coming up on the state highway network for maintenance activities.

They include:

State Highway 1 (SH1) - Ellerslie interchange to Symonds Street

There will be a full northbound closure for two nights, on Monday 11 and Tuesday 12 August between 10pm and 5am.

The recommended detour is as follows:

• For motorists travelling from Ellerslie to Symonds Street: detour via Great South Road, Broadway, Khyber Pass Road and Grafton Road to SH16 Wellesley Street westbound on-ramp where you can access SH1 northbound.
• For motorists travelling to State Highway 16 westbound: detour via Great South Road, Greenlane West, Balmoral Road and St Lukes Road.

State Highway 16 (SH16) - Great North Road, Waterview to Alten Road (CMJ), includes Waterview Tunnel

There will be a full eastbound closure overnight Wednesday 13 August between 10pm and 5am. State Highway 20 (SH20) northbound from Maioro Street to SH16 links (which includes Waterview Tunnel) will also be part of this closure.

The recommended detour is as follows:

• For motorists travelling to Alten Road: detour via Great North Road, Newton Road, Khyber Pass Road, Grafton Road, Symonds Street and Alten Road.
• For motorists travelling to SH1 northbound: detour via Great North Road, Newton Road, Ponsonby Road, Hopetoun Street, Pitt Street, Union Street and Wellington Street to the Wellington Street northbound on-ramp.
• For motorists travelling from SH1 southbound to Port: please use exit at SH16 Newton Road and use the recommended detour via Great North Road, Newton Road, Khyber Pass Road, Grafton Road, Symonds Street, Anzac Ave and Beach Road.
• For motorists travelling from SH20 to SH16 westbound: detour via Maioro Street, Tiverton Road, Blockhouse Bay Road, Great North Road (left turn) and Rosebank Road.
• For motorists travelling from SH20 to SH16 eastbound: detour via Blockhouse Bay Road, Great North Road (turn right) to Great North Road westbound on-ramp.

State Highway 20 (SH20) - Massey Road to Rimu Road (includes SH20A Kirkbride Rd to Airport links)

There will be a full northbound closure overnight Sunday 10 August between 10pm and 5am. Stop/go traffic management will be in place at Coronation Road roundabout.

The recommended detour is as follows:

• For motorists travelling northbound on SH20: detour via Massey Road, Robertson Road, Walmsley Road, Mahunga Drive and Rimu Road.
• For motorists travelling from SH20A: detour via Kirkbride Road, McKenzie Road, Coronation Road and Rimu Road.

The closures are required to enable maintenance teams to undertake a range of activities including stormwater systems cleanup, structural maintenance, inspections, vegetation control and graffiti removal.
