UPDATE 2.45pm – SH6 reopens after flooding closure

State Highway 6 between Haast and Makarora has now reopened.

Road users should take care when driving through this route as some surface water may remain.

An area warning has also gone out about surface flooding on SH6 between Cromwell and Luggate.

12.25pm – Surface flooding closes SH6

Surface flooding has closed State Highway 6 between Haast and Makarora.

Road users are advised to avoid the area or to delay their travel.

An update is expected this afternoon.
