Nominations Open For Youth Civic Award

Do you know a young Marlborough person who has made a significant contribution to the community through volunteering? If so, consider nominating them for Council’s biennial Youth Civic Awards.

Council’s Events and Community Partnership Officer Natalie Lawler said the Marlborough Youth Council instigated the Youth Civic Awards in 2013 to acknowledge volunteer contributions by young people to the Marlborough community.

“These awards celebrate the passion, commitment and success of our rangatahi who have made a significant contribution to their community through volunteering,” Natalie said.

The awards are open to any young person who has done deserving voluntary service in Marlborough in 2024 and 2025.

“The type of service which merits a civic award is varied but it must be service in the Marlborough community and it cannot be part of paid employment or work,” she said.

The community volunteer service could include any of the following areas:

The recipients of Youth Civic Awards will be decided by a selection panel made up of the Mayor, community representatives and includes at least two youth representatives. There is no fixed number of awards given out each year and it is not expected that all persons nominated will receive an award.

Nominations must be received by 5pm Wednesday 15 October.
