Whangarei District Council 2025 Local Government Election Progress Results |
||
The progress results in the 2025 Whangārei District Council local government election have been released.
Vince Cocurullo is currently leading the race for the Mayoralty with 9841 votes, followed by Ken Couper with 9774 and Marie Olsen in third with 6937.
The current results indicate that Whangārei’s voters have chosen to disestablish the District’s Māori Ward.
Under the Single Transferrable Voting (STV) system, the results may change between the release of the progress results and the release of the preliminary results, and then the final results.
Preliminary results will be published early afternoon on Sunday 12 October 2025, and we should know the final results anytime between Monday 13 and Friday 17 October 2025.
Official declaration of results will be made on Friday 17 October via public notice.
Whangarei District Council Chief Executive Simon Weston thanked all candidates in the election for their vision, courage and commitment to their communities.
