The Central Hawke’s Bay District Council’s elected team is now complete, with the final result declared.

The three seats in the Aramoana-Ruahine Ward are filled by Jerry Greer, Brent Muggeridge and Kate Taylor, and Amiria Nepe Apatu is confirmed as the Councillor for the Rautahi Māori Ward. Kirsty Lawrence is the final confirmed Councillor for the Ruataniwha Ward.

They are joining Mayor-Elect Will Foley, the two At-Large Councillors Kelly Annand and Gerard Minehan, and Todd Chote and Pip Burne in the Ruataniwha Ward.

Taylor beat Simon Collin in the Ruataniwha Ward by just 12 votes in one of the most contested races in the country, where the district increased its voter turnout to 56.03%, up from its previous two Local Government elections.

“Congratulations to our new Council and thank you to everyone who stood and the people who voted,”Central Hawke’s Bay District Council Chief Executive Doug Tate said.

“By participating, you are all doing an incredible service for our community.”

The first Council Meeting is on 28 October, where the newly elected members will be officially sworn in.
