Auckland Transport (AT) is encouraging commuters to check whether a section of Tāmaki Drive between Ngapipi Road and The Strand is still closed before they travel tomorrow morning. Emergency services are still at the site of a tragic incident where a bus driver lost their life on Tāmaki Drive last night.

Drivers and bus passengers are encouraged to allow plenty of time for their journey on Friday morning and to check our AT journey planner or mobile app for the latest information before they travel.

Tāmaki Drive will remain closed to all modes of transport between Ngapipi Road and The Strand for the rest of this evening. Motorists and bus passengers should consider alternative routes and avoid travel where possible tonight.

There are no impacts to train services this evening and a reminder that the train network will not be operating from tomorrow until Tuesday morning due to planned major rail upgrades. Rail replacement buses will be ready and waiting to keep Auckland moving and regular train users are also encouraged to check our AT journey planner or mobile app for the latest information before they travel.

Traffic heading towards the city (including buses) is currently detouring via Ngapipi Road and congestion is high in the Eastern Suburbs and at the Green Lane motorway onramp.

Bus routes 76, 774, 775, TMK are detouring via Orakei Road, Shore Road and Parnell Road.

Northbound traffic on the Southern Motorway has eased and freight access to the port at Solent Street remains open.
