CAMA 2025 Snapshot Reveals Growing Reach, Resilience, And Community Connection |
||
The Community Access Media Alliance (CAMA) has released its 2025 Snapshot, showing how 12 Community Access Media stations continue to strengthen connection, representation, and resilience across Aotearoa New Zealand.
The annual Snapshot brings together data and stories from across the CAMA network, revealing the Community Access Media sector remains one of the country’s most diverse and community-driven media ecosystems.
CAMA Chair Phil Grey says the report captures the civic and cultural value of Community Access Media.
“Our stations provide an authentic local voice in a rapidly changing media landscape.
They build trust, strengthen community resilience, and give people a place to be heard.”
CAMA National Representative Sasha Borissenko says despite rising operational costs and limited funding, the Snapshot highlights the sector's incredible commitment to innovate and engage hard-to-reach communities.
“Stations are embracing new technology, training pathways, and partnerships that keep community broadcasting relevant, inclusive, and future-focused.”
The Snapshot aligns with the CAMA Strategic Plan 2025–2030 and reinforces the sector’s contribution to public-interest media. CAMA plans to continue publishing the Snapshot annually to track progress, streamline data collection, and demonstrate the sector’s collective impact over time.
