Hutt City Council’s three summer pools open on Saturday 15 November and entry is free on that day to mark the start of a fun season in the sun for Lower Hutt families.

Wainuiomata, McKenzie and Eastbourne summer pools will remain open until Sunday 8 March.

This year sees the return of some much-loved promotions that haven’t run since before COVID-19, plus some great ways to make the most of the season.

The First 30 Days of Summer promotion runs until Sunday 14 December and features a different daily special each day:

• Mondays: 3.30–5.30pm - Adults half price
• Tuesdays: 3.30–5.30pm - Free hydro slide (Wainuiomata only) and free aqua run (Eastbourne & McKenzie)
• Wednesdays: 3.30–5.30pm - Kids half price
• Thursdays - 30% off summer swimwear
• Fridays: 3.30pm till 5.30pm - Free child entry with a can of food donation
• Weekends - Splash Zone fun across all pools

The Big Summer Splash kicks off on 26 December and runs through to 8 February. Swimmers who visit any Council pool five times will get their next visit free and go into the draw to win a prize pack.

Neighbourhoods & Communities Director Andrea Blackshaw says the pool openings are a signal that summer is on its way.

“When our summer pools open, you can feel the city come alive. Families, friends, and neighbours come together to enjoy the sunshine, cool off, and make memories. It’s what summer in Lower Hutt is all about.”

She says the pools are a great way for people of all ages to stay active, socialise, and enjoy their local community spaces.

All three pools will operate under their usual summer hours. Updates on weather and events will be shared on the Hutt City Pools & Fitness website and on our Facebook page.
