Stratford District’s Mayoral Christmas Gift Appeal Has Begun! |
||
Right now, Christmas trees are going up across Stratford district, kids are excitedly writing their wish lists for Santa, and grownups are planning for the holidays ahead. Yet for those who don’t have much to spare for gifts or goodies, the festive season can bring more stress than cheer.
That’s why District Mayor Neil Volzke is encouraging people to brighten someone’s Christmas by placing gift donations under the Christmas trees at the council’s Service Centre and Stratford Library and Visitor Information Centre.
“The Mayoral Christmas Gift Appeal is a tradition that’s been going strong for over 65 years. It may have the word ‘Mayoral’ in the title, but it’s the community that’s at the heart of it,” says Mayor Volzke.
“We’re a district that comes together and looks after each other, and that’s shown year after year in how generously people give, so others can enjoy a happy Christmas.”
“I pop on my Santa hat and personally deliver the gift parcels, and seeing the smiles and hearing the absolutely delighted surprise is always the highlight of the season.”
Donations are now open, with the final day to contribute goodies on Thursday 18 December.
Welcome gifts to put under the Christmas trees at the Stratford Library and Service Centre include:
Business sponsorship is welcome, as are cash donations to help top up the presents under the Christmas trees.
Cash donations can be made to the following account, using ‘Mayoral’ as the reference:
