Lower Hutt will come alive in February with around 600 events taking place across the city, offering something for all ages and interests.

From community markets and food festivals to big sporting events and family-friendly activities, February is shaping up to be one of the busiest months on the city’s calendar.

A number of these events are supported by Hutt City Council as part of its commitment to growing a vibrant, welcoming and inclusive events scene that brings people together and supports the local economy.

Council-supported events happening in February include:

• Hutt City Night Market food trucks, Dowse Square – every Thursday
• Whānau Time at Waitangi Weekend, Dowse Square – 7 February
• International BSA {motorcycle] Display, Dowse Square – 14 February
• NZHL XRace, Hikoikoi Reserve– 14 February
• International Food Festival, Naenae Village Market– 15 February
• Wainui Enduro mountain bike event, Waiu Street MTB Park – 21-22 February
• Petone Rotary Fair, Jackson St – 21 February
• Karaoke on the Lawn, ANZAC Lawn, Riddiford Garden – 22 February
• NZ Men’s Evergreens Softball Tournament, Fraser Park – 27-28 February

The number and variety of events on offer across the city shows a clear example of our strategy in action, and we’re looking ahead to attract even more events in the years to come.

Lower Hutt Mayor Ken Laban says events play a vital role in the life of the city.

“Events bring people together. They create great energy in our streets and make a real difference for local businesses. Just as importantly, they give our whānau and neighbours more chances to connect and enjoy everything that makes Lower Hutt such a great place to be.”

Laban says Council is focused on growing the city’s events offering in a way that benefits everyone.

“We want to back events that reflect who we are as a city and make people feel welcome here in the Hutt. That means supporting our local organisers, hosting events that bring people in, and building a calendar that gives our community something to look forward to all year.”
