Lower Hutt Buzzing With Events In April |
||

School holiday fun is part of a packed April events calendar across Lower Hutt, with hundreds of activities for tamariki and whānau to enjoy.
April will see more than 500 events take place across Lower Hutt, including about 180 during the school holidays. Highlights include:
Details on all these events, and much more, can be found here
Lower Hutt Mayor Laban says it is a wonderful time for the community to get out and enjoy what the city has to offer.
“April is shaping up to be an exciting month for Lower Hutt. We've got something for everyone, and I encourage locals to get out, support our events, and be part of the energy across the city.
“And while I acknowledge we are all feeling the pinch with increasing fuel prices and cost of living pressures, plenty of the events on offer are free or operate on koha. Please take advantage of that to have a fun time in our great city.”
Hutt City Council is also preparing to mark a major milestone with the opening of Tupua Horo Nuku, a 4.4km shared path and seawall along Marine Drive.
The Tupua Horo Nuku project strengthens a key coastal route, between Ngau Matau/Point Howard and Eastbourne, while creating a scenic space for walking, biking and enjoying the bays.
The community is invited to celebrate the opening on Saturday 18 April from 10am to 2pm, with activities planned along the route.
Mayor Laban says the opening of Tupua Horo Nuku is a particular highlight for the month and a proud moment for Lower Hutt.
“This is a significant achievement for our city. I invite everyone to come along, explore the new path, and celebrate this incredible addition to our coastline with us.”
Media will be invited to the opening of Tupua Horo Nuku closer to the time.
April’s lineup of events comes after Lower Hutt enjoyed a bumper March when more than 10,000 people were either a participant, supporter or spectator at events in the city.
