Partial Closure Of Stadium 2000 Pools Until Sunday 26 April

Marlborough Lines Stadium 2000 has temporarily closed its Programme and Learn to Swim pools following a routine water quality test that returned a bacteria result outside normal limits.

As a precaution, both pools - which operate on a shared filtration system - have been closed while further testing is carried out. All other pools at the facility including the sports, toddlers, leisure and spa pools remain open and fully operational.

“Retesting is underway with results expected within approximately 72 hours under the standard laboratory processing requirements,” said Bids Taylor, General Manager.

“The affected pools will remain closed until water quality is confirmed to meet all required safety standards. There have been no reported customer illness concerns. The health authorities have been notified and are satisfied with the actions we have taken.”

“Stadium 2000 takes water quality and customer safety very seriously, and this precautionary closure reflects our commitment to maintaining the highest standards.”

The result relates to pseudomonas, a bacteria commonly found in water environments. In pool settings, it is most often associated with skin irritation and ear infections.

She said she hoped the two pools can reopen on Sunday 26 April.

“Thank you to our customers and staff for their patience during this time.”
