State Highway 2/Awakeri Road in Edgecumbe is blocked due to a two-vehicle crash.

It happened at the intersection with Western Drain Road shortly after 4:50pm.

Initial indications suggest at least one person is critically injured. The Serious Crash Unit is attending.

Diversions are in place on State Highway 2 at Putiki Road and at State Highway 30.

Motorists are asked to delay travel if possible.
