New Software Speeds Up Trade
A New Zealand software company has developed specialist trade software with a potential export market of tens of thousands firms.
Distribution Software Limited has developed trackfreight.com to help exporters, importers and freight forwarders make full use of the Internet's commercial potential. It creates standard export documents that can be emailed to clients rather than faxed, saving time and money and speeding up communication.
trackfreight.com also gives small to medium-sized companies a service that - until now - has been the preserve of mainly large freight forwarders: consignment tracking through the Internet. Importers will be able to check exactly where their consignments are and when they are likely to arrive, adding certainty to their planning.
Distribution Software Limited has been developing trade facilitation software for over 10 years. It launched trackfreight.com during a recent conference of international forwarders in Mexico, where its was well received as a practical solution to forwarders' document transmission needs.
It will have huge appeal to tens of thousands of firms worldwide.
"International shipping is extremely time-sensitive," says Managing Director Phillip Rashleigh. "If documents are delayed by even a few hours, a consignment may be held up at a huge cost to importers and exporters. With more companies becoming dependent on just-in-time supply chains, the old fax-and-re-key methods are just not up to the task.
"No other similar product is on the market. Firms around the world are seeing the benefits trackfreight.com offers in terms of lowering costs and speeding up trade," says Rashleigh. "It runs on industry-standard systems, and has been developed so any company - no matter how big or small - can use it. If you can use email, you can use trackfreight.com. The number of potential users is unlimited."
trackfreight.com will be launched in New Zealand at Hotel Grand Chancellor, Auckland Airport on June 22 at 5:30 pm. A fully functional evaluation version is available for download from www.trackfreight.com.
