Telecom Makes Xtra Mobile Internet On 027 Free

This Queen’s Birthday weekend, Xtra email and Internet will be free on Telecom 027 mobile phones.

In a first for New Zealand, Xtra’s Internet on 027 mobile services will be free for the 72 hours from midnight Friday (30 May) until midnight Monday (2 June)*.

This means that more than 300,000 New Zealanders with 027 mobiles won’t pay to access the Internet, play mobile games against other gamers, get information such as local weather forecasts and, if they’re an Xtra customer, send and receive Xtra emails on their 027 mobile phones.

Telecom Mobile’s Kevin Kenrick said the move was designed to encourage New Zealanders to trial these leading-edge services.

He said Telecom’s $5 Weekends had changed the way people used their home phone. The free long weekend for Xtra’s Internet on 027 mobile services could help change the way people view their mobile.

“There’s so much that’s now possible on mobile phones. We want everyone to experience them – to have a go,” he said.
