Photocopier techs stop work

A company that made a $9 million profit last year is trying to cut the take-home pay of many of its workers.

Photocopier technicians at Fuji Xerox are holding two-hour stop-work meetings today in protest at the company’s proposal.

Engineering, Printing and Manufacturing Union national secretary Andrew Little said that claw-backs proposed by the company could cost some technicians more than $5000 a year.

The two-hour stop-work meetings, in Auckland and Wellington, began at 9.30am and involve 55 people.

Mr Little said that the workers were also seeking a five per cent pay rise. The company has offered a 3.25 per cent rise.
