Plastics workers to vote on pay offer

Workers in the plastics industry will hold meetings over the next few days to decide whether to accept a pay offer from their employers.

Engineering, Printing and Manufacturing Union national secretary Andrew Little said that employers had made a pay offer in negotiations yesterday afternoon.

“We will be taking that offer back for consideration by members,” he said. “We expect that process to take until about Wednesday. Until then, we cannot reveal any details about the offer.”

The Plastics Industry multi-employer collective agreement covers more than 1300 workers at about 50 companies. Workers went into negotiations earlier this month seeking a 7.9 per cent pay rise.
