Calan Respond to Takeover Notice

Statement made by Bruce Davidson, Chairman,
Calan Healthcare Properties Limited

Calan Healthcare Properties Trust (Calan) today, January 31, 2006, received a Restricted Transfer Notice from ING Property Trust Investments Limited setting out its intention to make a full takeover offer for Calan.

The directors of Calan will make a full response to the Notice shortly but restate their previous recommendation to unitholders to take no action until directors have received an independent appraisal report and make a consequent recommendation to the market.
