DonateNZ wins “Best Government or Community Site”at Netguide Awards
Online goods & services donation website, www.donatenz.com , was among the winners of the 2007 Netguide Web Awards last night, picking up the award for “Best Government or Community Site”.
The NetGuide awards invite the public to vote for their favourite Kiwi websites.
Founder, Claire Sawyers, says the win is recognition from the public that the site has a role to play in how we dispose of our unwanted things and support our community.
“With all the talk recently about the problems with Inorganic Collections and the need to reduce our impact on the environment Donate NZ provides a much-needed service. The internet provides a fantastic way to match the needs of one person or organisation, with that of another. DonateNZ provides users with the power of the internet to help find a good home for their unwanted things.”
In 2006, over 10,000 items were donated through the site providing local communities with a treasure trove of much needed resources.
Other finalists in the category were the IRD and Auckland City.
Sawyers adds, “We were delighted to win having only been operating for one year. We look forward to next year’s event and would like to thank everyone who took the time to vote for www.donatenz.com .”
