Jack Henderson launches Kiwi ecoBook

MEDIA RELEASE

Sustainable transport advocate Jack Henderson launches Kiwi ecoBook.

Former ARC Councillor Jack Henderson has forsaken transport planning and developed a new paper-saving book-replacement web product.

The Kiwi ecoBook is a hand-coded true-text web book that computer users can read like a normal book with pages that flip, except it obviously needs no paper to distribute it. Clients provide PDF-type print format content and this is reproduced as a book for that client in a format that can be distributed on the Web, email or CD for their customers or audience.

The former Campaign for Public transport spokesperson says: “Reducing paper and distribution costs is a worthy goal for me. There’s plenty of good work happening in public transport.”

Unlike pay-per-view e-books, it uses the famous free standalone Macc rendering engine and reads in any browser, while unlike graphic-based advertising pageflips, you can reproduce and read fine text.

Typically a client will link to their Kiwi ecoBook to open in a new window from their existing website.

“Quality, accessible user-friendly products like this show a maturing of the virtual information market, the kind of approach needed to really get paper savings.”

The Kiwi ecoBook can be found on Jack’s website jack.co.nz.
