TVNZ Director Dedicates Prestigious Award To Son

TVNZ Sports Director Dedicates Prestigious Award To Son Who Died In April

Friday 4th of September, 2009

One of TVNZ’s most experienced television directors has been acknowledged this afternoon at the annual Qantas Film and Television Awards and dedicated his award to his 17 year old son who died of cancer earlier this year.

Steve Jamieson won the craft award for Best Multi-Camera Direction in the general television category for bringing the IRB World 7s Series live from Wellington to New Zealand in February.

“This recognition is evidence of Steve’s unconditional commitment to his craft, he directed our sports coverage as well as several other high profile live sporting events this year while dealing with incomprehensible family tragedy”, says TVNZ’s Head of Sport, Murray Needham.

Steve Jamieson’s son, Juke (17) died after a 10 month battle with cancer in April

Steve dedicated the award to Juke when he accepted it at the Qantas Craft Lunch this afternoon.

“Steve is a very talented craftsman, a consummate professional and we are all very proud of his achievement".
