Registered Master Builders supports LBP streamlining

The Registered Master Builders Federation (RMBF) is pleased that the Government has followed through on its promise to streamline the application process for the Licensed Building Practitioners Scheme

Launched by the Minister, Hon Maurice Williamson today in Auckland, application to this scheme, which has been through a number of machinations over the last few years, will now be simpler, faster and cheaper for builders.

RMBF CEO Warwick Quinn says “our organisation has always supported a licensing regime for building and construction in New Zealand. The removal of red tape and any unnecessary compliance and cost is a huge step towards the LBP scheme being more easily adopted by builders”.

“Progress of this sort is incredibly important given the intention that Licensing will be compulsory in the not to distant future and will directly affect the many thousands of building professionals employed by our member companies,” says Mr Quinn

As with the Licensed Building Practitioner Scheme, RMBF is very keen to continue its close working relationship with Government on a number of other projects being rolled out in 2010.
